Sungkyunkwan University has been selected for the Seoul RISE 'Seoul-type BRIDGE' project, receiving 3.64 billion KRW to promote technology commercialization linked to local industries over four years starting from 2026.
Sungkyunkwan University, under President Lee Yoon-jae, has been selected for a new project under the 'Regional Innovation Center University Support System (RISE)', coordinated by Seoul Metropolitan Government. As a result, the university will implement the 'Seoul-type BRIDGE' project, which will include a budget of 3.64 billion KRW over the span of four years starting in 2026. When combined with existing RISE projects, the total budget for all initiatives will reach 11.86 billion KRW. The aim is to connect university technologies with local industries to foster innovation and growth in the region.
The selected project focuses on expanding technology transfer and support for deep-tech startups by leveraging the university's research achievements. Particularly, Sungkyunkwan University aims to produce tangible results in technology commercialization and to establish a regional innovation ecosystem, capitalizing on its strengths in AI, digital technology, and IT convergence.
The 'Seoul-type BRIDGE' project is a new initiative introduced by the city this year, designed to support the practical application and commercialization of university research results. It targets strategic industrial sectors such as AI, robotics, fintech, and biotech, encouraging collaboration between universities and companies to elevate university technologies to meet business needs while facilitating technology transfer and entrepreneurial initiatives.
