The band Elán wants to end. Their farewell concert will take place on June 9 in Prague

Slovak pop-rock band Elán is set to perform their farewell concert in Prague on June 9, after announcing the end of their concert career.

Elán, the renowned Slovak pop-rock band, has announced that its farewell concert will take place on June 9 at the O2 Arena in Prague. Originally scheduled for June 6 at a football stadium in Eden, the band has changed both the venue and the date. The decision was shared by Marta Říhová from the event organizing company Brainzone, indicating the excitement surrounding this significant event for fans and followers of the band.

The frontman of Elán, Jožo Ráž, has publicly stated in a video on YouTube that this concert will mark the end of their concert career. At 71 years old, Ráž emphasized the emotional nature of this final performance, describing it as a commemorative event. While fans may have speculated that the band was starting a new tour, Ráž clarified that the only forthcoming events are a few planned concerts in 2026, after which there would be no more performances, making the June 9 show particularly poignant.

Prior to their farewell performance in Prague, Elán will hold a concert in Nitra, Slovakia, and will further complete three more concerts later this year, culminating in a final show in Bratislava. This farewell concert series celebrates the 45th anniversary of their debut album, "Osmý světadíl," which adds a layer of nostalgia and significance to these performances, reflecting the band's deep connection with its fans over the decades.
