VIDEO: capybaras are caught swimming in the river's current after rain in ES
A group of about 14 capybaras was seen swimming in the Fundão River after heavy rains in Espírito Santo, drawing attention from a local resident.
In a remarkable sighting, approximately 14 capybaras were spotted swimming in the currents of the Fundão River, located in the city of the same name within the Metropolitan Region of Vitória, Brazil. This phenomenon occurred following heavy rains that raised the water levels due to flooding in the nearby municipality of Santa Teresa. A local accountant, Celso Cláudio, 65, shared his excitement about seeing such a large gathering of capybaras for the first time in the area, having previously only encountered smaller groups during his earlier years around the outskirts of the city.
Cláudio described the emotional experience of witnessing the capybaras descending the river while he was on his way to work, feeling a sense of joy seeing so many animals together. His encounter, despite his familiarity with the species in the region, marked a unique event, particularly due to the number of capybaras present. Such observations are not only delightful to the residents but also highlight the local wildlife and its interaction with the changing weather conditions.
