In an unusual event early Thursday morning, a capybara was seen enjoying a swim at Arpoador beach, one of Rio de Janeiro's most famous locations. The scene caught the attention of agents from the Municipal Public Order Secretariat (Seop), who were patrolling the area and found the animal appearing quite relaxed as it splashed in the water. After cooling off, the capybara made its way towards the iconic Pedra do Arpoador, a popular destination known for its breathtaking views.

The curious occurrence was also captured by several pedestrians walking along the beachfront. Due to the capybara's movement towards a more populated area, the Municipal Guard’s Environmental Defense Group was called to monitor the situation.
