Break in the Agreste Aqueduct causes large water leak on BR-232 and affects supply in three cities; VIDEO
A break in the Agreste Aqueduct caused a significant water leak along BR-232, impacting the water supply in Bezerros and leading to service suspensions in nearby areas.
A water supply crisis emerged in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, Brazil, due to a rupture in the Agreste Aqueduct early on July 2. This break resulted in a considerable water leak along the federal highway BR-232, particularly between the municipalities of Caruaru and Bezerros. According to the state water company, Companhia Pernambucana de Saneamento (Compesa), the situation has led to a halt in water services in Bezerros and has necessitated the reduction of supply in surrounding areas such as Sairé and Gravatá. Videos captured by commuters portray the severity of the leak as it inundated the roadway.
