City in the interior of MG on alert has water supply interrupted after pump failure during rain
The city of Água Comprida in Brazil has faced a water supply interruption due to a pump failure following heavy rainfall that also caused flooding.
Água Comprida, a city in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, is currently dealing with a water supply interruption after experiencing intense rainfall that occurred from the night of July 6 to early July 7. The city was already on alert due to flooding that had affected roads and caused the closure of a bridge. Now, the lack of water supply is impacting all neighborhoods and has added to the difficulties faced by residents already dealing with the aftermath of the heavy rains.
In a communication issued by the Água Comprida City Hall on the morning of July 8, officials informed the public about the serious issue with a pump at the water reservoir that has led to this disruption. Local reports indicated that residents noticed the water supply interruption as early as Saturday morning. The municipality is actively working to resolve the situation and has urgently requested the necessary measures from the water utility company to restore service as quickly as possible.
To assist affected residents during the water supply disruption, the city has directed the water utility, Copasa, to provide truckloads of potable water to ensure that the population has access to drinking water. The ongoing collaboration between the municipality and the sanitation company is aimed at mitigating the impact of this crisis while efforts are underway to fix the pump and restore the water supply to the city’s residents safely and promptly.
