Tatoi: The exhibition at the Palace moves forward after the 'green light' from the Museum Council

The establishment of a permanent exhibition at the former Royal Estate of Tatoi is progressing, following a positive assessment from the Museum Council regarding the updated museological and museographic study.

The former Royal Estate of Tatoi is witnessing significant advancements in the development of a permanent exhibition, recently receiving a favorable evaluation from the Museum Council on its updated museological and museographic study. Lina Mendoni, the Greek Minister of Culture, emphasized the rapid documentation of movable objects from the Tatoi collections, which has necessitated a revision and enhancement of the original study that was initially approved in July 2025.

Currently, the Ministry of Culture is managing over 100,000 objects, many of which have been found in unsatisfactory conservation conditions and under particularly challenging circumstances. The items primarily originate from the Palace and the estate's facilities, with a significant number also documented as belonging to other villas of the former royal family. Each of these findings holds considerable historical and artistic value, prompting a rich exploration of Greece's royal heritage and the preservation of its history.

The upcoming exhibition is set to showcase these valuable artifacts, shedding light on the royal past of Greece and aiming to educate the public about the legacy of the former monarchy. This initiative not only highlights the importance of preserving cultural heritage but also promotes the Tatoi estate as a critical site for historical tourism, enhancing its role in contemporary Greek culture and identity.
