Aracaju alters the operation of health units after heavy rains

The City Hall of Aracaju has suspended activities in health units and schools due to heavy rains affecting the capital over the weekend.

The City Hall of Aracaju has announced the suspension of activities in several health units and schools that were impacted by severe rain over the weekend. According to reports from the Civil Defense of the Sergipe capital, rainfall reached a total of 34 mm in just six hours, resulting in significant flooding, particularly in the southern area of the city. This has led to the temporary closure of various health services, including dental emergencies and Family Health Units in certain neighborhoods, to ensure safety and proper conditions for future services.

In the municipal health system, specific units such as the Urgência Odontológica in Farolândia and multiple Family Health Units in Santa Maria and Robalo have been ordered to suspend operations. These changes come as precautionary measures to ensure adequate operational conditions as repairs are initiated to address water damage in these facilities. Notably, the Anália Pina health unit had to halt services temporarily for water removal from inundated areas within the premises.

Additionally, the educational sector is being affected, with schools in impacted regions being closed until the repair and cleanup processes are completed. Such actions taken by the local government highlight the immediate response to natural disasters and the importance of prioritizing public health and safety in the wake of environmental challenges, emphasizing preparedness and restoration efforts in community infrastructure.
