On the way back to Italy: After eating goulash in Berlin, a travel group has to make a stop in Bavaria due to stomach ache
An Italian travel group returning from Berlin made an unplanned stop in Bavaria due to widespread stomach issues experienced by nearly all members after consuming goulash the previous day.
A group of 45 Italian travelers had to make an unexpected stop in Oberfranken, Bavaria, due to severe stomach complaints that afflicted nearly every member of the group after their trip to Berlin. Reports indicated that they all enjoyed goulash the day before, while only five individuals, who opted for different meals, did not experience any discomfort. This widespread illness raised immediate concerns about food safety and the potential impacts on the group’s trip back to Italy.
The local emergency services provided medical assistance in Leopoldsgrün, supplying the group with medications to alleviate their symptoms. One person from the group even required further attention after being sick during the stop. After about an hour and a half of delays, the group was able to continue their journey back home, although the discomfort remained a notable incident during their return.
Authorities in Berlin have started an investigation to determine what caused the stomach issues, focusing on the goulash consumed by the travelers. The investigation aims to ascertain whether the meal was indeed the source of the sickness, which could have larger implications for food safety standards and the restaurant where the meal was served, as well as concerns for other travelers in similar situations.
