The content of the program 'Latvia's School Bag' will be supplemented by new cultural events for children and youth
A new initiative aims to enrich the 'Latvia's School Bag' program with cultural projects focusing on children and youth, supported by grants from the State Culture Capital Foundation.
The State Culture Capital Foundation (VKKF) has announced funding for the 'Latvia's School Bag' program, which supports projects aimed at enhancing cultural education for children and youth. A total of 53 project applications were submitted for the 2026 competition, of which 12 were approved, amounting to 80,000 euros in funding. The selected projects include various forms of artistic expression, such as music, theater, literature, visual arts, and cultural heritage.
The projects that received support were evaluated based on their innovative ideas and clear thematic content relevant to children and youth. The professional experience of the project developers, particularly those providing these cultural events within the 'Latvia's School Bag' program, was crucial in the evaluation process. This emphasis on quality ensures that the cultural experiences offered will resonate with younger audiences, addressing pertinent themes that affect their lives.
Notable project examples include the theater performance 'Both' by the association 'Cultural Passport,' which explores children's relationships with seniors and their mutual symbiosis. Another project, by the theater troupe 'KVADRIFRONS,' will feature a performance titled 'Tooth Fairy,' humorously addressing children's dental hygiene habits through elements of detective genre and audience participation. These initiatives aim to foster a richer cultural landscape for Latvian children and youth, promoting engagement with important social issues through artistic expression.
