São Paulo launches platform to streamline domestic violence reporting

The state government of São Paulo has introduced a new system designed to facilitate the reporting of domestic violence against women through the Military Police.

On Tuesday, the government of São Paulo announced a new initiative aimed at simplifying the process for victims of domestic violence to report incidents to law enforcement. This system allows victims to file their reports directly from the scene of the crime, eliminating the need to travel to a police station. The new module of the online platform Riesp (Integrated Record of Public Security Events), known as Riesp-DV, enables police officers to send these reports directly to the Women’s Defense Delegacies (DDMs) of the Civil Police in São Paulo.

The initiative also incorporates a risk assessment form known as Fonar (National Risk Assessment Form), which helps determine the level of vulnerability of the victim. This new process is part of the broader SP Mulher program, which aims to address various issues related to violence against women. It is an important step towards improving support for victims, ensuring that they can receive timely assistance and action from law enforcement.

By enabling direct reporting and facilitating risk evaluation, the state seeks to make it easier for victims to come forward while enhancing the police's ability to respond effectively to cases of domestic violence. This platform reflects a significant commitment by the São Paulo government to combat violence against women and improve the overall safety and support mechanisms available to victims in the region.
