Residents of Sigulda have expressed dissatisfaction with the local government's decision to reject their demand for funding equalization between a private football school and municipal sports schools. Experts consulted by LTV suggest that this decision reflects a political unwillingness from the municipality to properly consider residentsβ requests. The current draft of the sports law, scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2026, could allow municipalities to provide greater support for youth sports, yet there is skepticism regarding its successful implementation.
