PM seizes over 3,000 drug portions in Morro do Papagaio, BH

The Military Police seized a significant quantity of drugs in Belo Horizonte following an anonymous tip about drug trafficking activity.

On the afternoon of Sunday (1st), the Military Police seized a large quantity of drugs in Morro do Papagaio, located in the Centro-Sul region of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The operation took place on Rua José Bonifácio de Oliveira, in the Santa Rita de Cássia neighborhood, after officers received an anonymous report indicating ongoing drug trafficking activities in the area. While patrolling, police observed two suspects repeatedly entering and leaving an abandoned house, prompting further investigation.

Upon approaching the individuals, police entered the abandoned house where they discovered drugs concealed near a wall amid rubble and trash. The seizure included 1,615 crack cocaine rocks, 1,433 bags of cocaine, 403 packets of marijuana, along with six bars of marijuana, nine portions of hashish known as 'ice,' and three scales used for weighing drugs. The extent of the seizure underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling drug trafficking in urban areas.

One of the detained suspects, a 17-year-old adolescent, claimed he was not involved in the trafficking at that location but stated he was active in the Favela do Cabana. This case highlights the complex nature of drug trafficking networks in Belo Horizonte, including the involvement of minors and suggests a possible connection between various favelas in the city. The authorities' continued efforts to combat drug-related crime are critical for public safety in these communities.
