Regina Maria Januário Fernandes has finally achieved her long-cherished goal of graduating from high school at the age of 58 in Fortaleza, Brazil. After abandoning her education in 1985 due to early motherhood, she faced numerous challenges over the years that made it difficult to return to school. With her daughters having completed their higher education, Regina decided to pursue her studies once more in 2024, supported by a partnership between her workplace and the Social Service of Industry (Sesi) in Ceará.

Her journey was not without difficulties; upon returning to the classroom, Regina expressed apprehension about the changes in learning methods, particularly in subjects like mathematics that she found daunting. Despite having to repeat the last year of high school, her determination and the encouragement from her family helped her overcome her fears and succeed academically.
