The city government of Fortaleza announced a new initiative aimed at empowering women and individuals with disabilities through a free technology training course. There are 120 spots available, divided equally between women and people with disabilities, to promote access to knowledge in the information technology sector. This program is particularly targeted at residents of Fortaleza who are in situations of social vulnerability, particularly those who have attended public schools and reside in areas of low Human Development Index (HDI).

Applications for the program opened on March 25 and will remain open until March 13, 2026. Participants will not be charged any fees for enrollment or certification, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede access to education. The course is designed to be accessible, offering a hybrid format that includes both online and in-person classes, enhancing flexibility for attendees and catering to different learning preferences.

The curriculum will cover essential skills, particularly in technical support and customer service. Participants will also benefit from specialized mentorship and be connected to job opportunities within the industry, significantly improving their employability. This initiative is seen as a step towards fostering inclusivity and equal opportunities in the tech sector, particularly in a region where socio-economic disparities are prevalent.
