On March 1, a ceremony was held at the Riga Congress Hall to celebrate the National Cinema Awards 'Lielais Kristaps,' honoring the best Latvian films and exceptional cinema professionals from the past year. The director of the ceremony was Jānis Ābele, and it was hosted by actors Ieva Puķe and Sandis Runge from the Valmiera Theater. The awards recognized outstanding contributions in various categories, showcasing the diversity and talent within the Latvian film industry.
The title of Best Film was awarded to Oskars Rupenheits for 'Dark Blue Gospel,' while the title for Best Feature Film went to Dzintars Dreiberga’s production 'In the Net. The Birth of TTT Legends.' Both films garnered significant recognition, each receiving five awards at the ceremony, highlighting their excellence and impact on the Latvian cinematic landscape. Additionally, three 'Lielais Kristaps' awards were given for Alise Zariņa’s film 'Nospiedumi,' alongside the same number awarded to the team behind the film 'Dieva suns' by brothers Laura and Raita Ābele.
