You can watch the 'Great Kristaps' film selection

The National Film Award 'Great Kristaps' offers an online film selection for free viewing in Latvia until March 1st.

The National Film Award 'Great Kristaps' in collaboration with the National Film Center (NKC) is providing an online selection of films this year. According to NKC representative Kristīne Matīsa, from now until March 1st, 12 films are available for free viewing on the site 'filmas.lv' across Latvia. This initiative allows audiences to enjoy critically acclaimed films, showcasing the best of Latvian cinema.

Included in the online program are seven award-winning films from last year's 'Great Kristaps' ceremony. Among them are the best feature film 'Maria's Silence', the short film 'Call of the Void', and the full-length documentary 'Podnieks about Podnieks: A Witness of Time'. The selection also features the short documentary 'Through a Child's Eyes', the series 'Revolt', the debut film 'My 80 Springs', and the student film 'Luna'. These films not only highlight the talent within Latvia's film industry but also enrich the cultural landscape by promoting local cinema.

Furthermore, a special selection is dedicated to this year's Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, stuntman Uldis Veispal, including two crime films by director Aloizs Brenčs - 'Let's Be' and 'Telephone Gifts', as well as the feature film 'Under the Upside Down Moon'. This initiative is a significant step in making Latvian cinema more accessible to the public and celebrating the achievements within the film sector, especially during a time when physical film screenings may be limited.
