Centralized Admission to Kindergartens and Schools Begins, 24 Municipal Institutions to Participate

Centralized admission to educational institutions for the 2026-2027 school year will be available via a new information system in Lithuania.

The Lithuanian government has initiated a centralized admission process for kindergartens and schools, set to launch for the 2026-2027 academic year. This first phase will allow applications through a newly established Centralized Admission Information System (CPIS), accessible online. A total of 24 municipalities including Akmenė, Anykščiai, and Panevėžys will participate in this initial rollout, which aims to streamline the enrollment process across the region.

The Education, Science, and Sports Ministry has announced that the first stage of centralized admission will begin in March, involving several municipalities in Lithuania. This new system, aimed at improving accessibility and efficiency, will gradually extend to include larger municipalities in subsequent phases. The project marks a significant step towards creating an integrated online admission platform for all state and municipal general and pre-school education institutions by 2028.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Sports, Jona, emphasized that this is the first step in a national-scale initiative to enhance the educational enrollment process throughout the country. By establishing this system, the government hopes to provide parents with a more user-friendly experience when applying for their children's education, while also improving the overall management of educational resources in Lithuania.
