A speeding Mercedes-Benz in Hyderabad hit a vehicle and subsequently dragged a traffic constable on its bonnet for nearly a kilometer after the officer attempted to intervene.
In a shocking incident in Hyderabad's Gachibowli area on Saturday, a luxury Mercedes-Benz car crashed into another vehicle, prompting a traffic constable to attempt to stop the speeding driver. The constable, who was on duty, tried to intervene but was struck by the car, causing him to fall onto the vehicle's bonnet. Despite hitting the officer, the driver continued to accelerate, dragging the constable along for approximately one kilometer. Video evidence of the incident has emerged, capturing the frightening event.
The alleged driver, identified as 24-year-old Gurrampati Tarun from Narsingi, was reported to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Initial reports from the control room confirmed that Tarun was driving recklessly and at high speed before crashing into another vehicle and subsequently evading the police officer's attempts to stop him. The traffic constable, Narasimha, was stationed at the Triple IT junction and responded to the crash, only to find himself in a perilous situation when the driver ignored his directives.
This incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about road safety and the consequences of driving under the influence. As authorities investigate, it underscores the dangers faced by law enforcement on the roads and the need for stricter measures against reckless driving, especially during instances of impaired driving, which continue to pose a significant risk to public safety.
