Video: Driver Attempts to Crush Traffic Policeman, Drags Him on Car
In a shocking incident in Delhi's Janakpuri, a driver attempted to run over a traffic policeman during a routine drunken driving check, dragging him on the hood of the car before fleeing.
A disturbing event unfolded in Delhi's Janakpuri Circle on March 21, around 5:52 PM, where a traffic policeman was attacked by a driver during a routine drunk driving check. Sub-Inspector Gurdeep Singh and Constable Mohan Pal were conducting checks near Bharti College when they tried to stop a suspicious Santro car. Instead of stopping, the driver attempted to flee, hitting Constable Mohan Pal in the process and causing him to fall onto the car's hood. The driver then allegedly dragged the constable for some distance before he was thrown off onto the road.
Onlookers quickly intervened to help stop the vehicle and ensure the constable's safety. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported for Constable Mohan Pal, an aspect highlighted as a relief by the traffic police. Following the incident, the traffic police acted promptly by seizing the vehicle and issuing a challan against the driver, who was later identified as Nilesh. The situation raises concerns about the increasing violence against traffic officials during law enforcement activities, particularly regarding drunk driving checks.
The police are now engaged in the legal process against the driver, while ensuring that such aggressive actions towards law enforcement do not go unpunished. The incident not only underscores the dangers faced by traffic policemen but also serves as a reminder of the challenges in maintaining public safety amid rising incidents of reckless driving. Calls for stricter measures against such offenses may be expected as a response to this disturbing event.
