The RSU (Rīgas Stradiņa universitāte) volleyball team recently achieved a significant milestone by winning the bronze medal in the 'Elme Messer' Baltic Women's Volleyball League. In a closely contested match for third place held in Estonia, they emerged victorious with a score of 3-1 against Jiri 'Rae Spordikool/Viaston', showcasing remarkable team effort, especially from their leading scorers: Agija Ankevica, Anna Cepurīte, Monta Urbāne, and Loreta Martinsone, who collectively secured 70 points for their team.

In the semi-finals on Saturday, the RSU team faced a challenging opponent, Tartu, where they fell short after a grueling five-set match. Prior to that, Jiri faced a similar fate against the Lithuanian team 'Kaunas-VDU'. The overall competition highlighted the dominance of the Estonian team, 'Rae Spordikool'/Viaston, who were the defending champions, while the RSU team's performance signifies an upward trajectory in Latvian women's volleyball.
