Rae Sports School, winners of the main round, ended up without a medal in the Baltic League
Rae Spordikool, despite winning the main round in the Baltic Women's Volleyball League, finished the season without a medal after losing to RSU of Latvia.
Rae Spordikool/VIASTON, the defending champions in the Baltic Women's Volleyball League, faced a disappointing conclusion to their season despite dominating the main round. Having finished first in the main round with an impressive record of 16 wins and 46 points, their journey ended with a fourth-place finish after a hard-fought bronze medal match against the Latvian club RSU. Rae initially took the lead by winning the first set, but they were unable to maintain their momentum as RSU clinched the next three sets, securing victory with a 3-1 match score.
In the final match statistics, Rae's Kristel Allorg stood out for her team, scoring 20 points, complemented by Liis Kiviloo with 15 points and Silvia Pertens with 13 points. Despite their individual efforts, the team couldn’t overcome the collective strength of RSU, where four players managed to score over 16 points, showcasing a well-rounded performance. The loss was particularly painful for Rae, who had high hopes of defending their title, especially after a successful campaign in the regular season which saw them dominate their competitors.
As the league wraps up, this match serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of sports, where regular season success does not always translate into postseason achievements. The upcoming finals will see other teams battling for the championship, while Rae Spordikool will be left to reflect on their season, hoping to come back stronger next year. Their performance this season remains noteworthy, demonstrating their capability and resilience as a team, despite the disappointing end result.
