Fourteen arrested for drug trafficking in the City: one has 35 criminal records and another wore an ankle monitor for a homicide case

A police operation in Buenos Aires led to the arrest of 14 individuals linked to drug trafficking, uncovering significant quantities of drugs and weapons.

An extensive operation against drug trafficking culminated in the arrest of 14 suspects across five neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. The operation, orchestrated by the City Police, included raids in areas such as 1.11.14, Constitución, Balvanera, Barracas, and Villa Santa Rita, revealing serious criminal connections among the suspects. Notably, one of the arrested had a record of 35 previous offenses, while another was under electronic monitoring due to an aggravated homicide case.

During the thirteen search warrants executed, law enforcement confiscated 400 grams of cocaine, 297 grams of base paste, marijuana, various other drugs, and a considerable amount of cash. The police reported that among the detainees, eight individuals were linked to nearly 60 prior offenses including drug dealing, ownership of drugs, theft (both minor and aggravated), resistance against authorities, and firearm possession. Such statistics underline not only the scale of the drug issue but also highlight the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating repeat offenders in these neighborhoods.

The operations were part of a broader strategy emphasized by Security Minister Horacio Giménez, who articulated a commitment to intensify action against local drug trafficking networks. This crackdown reflects ongoing problems with narcotics in urban Argentina and the need for policy responses to effectively reduce both crime and substance abuse in vulnerable communities.
