More than 10 arrested in operation against drug delivery and arms sales in Porto Alegre
A police operation in Porto Alegre resulted in the arrest of at least 11 individuals involved in a drug delivery and arms sales scheme.
On Tuesday, September 17, a major operation by the Civil Police in Brazil led to the arrest of over 10 individuals linked to a drug delivery and illegal arms sales ring operating in Porto Alegre. Police executed a total of 65 judicial orders, including arrest warrants and search and seizure operations across Porto Alegre and Alvorada, in addition to implementing precautionary measures in prisons located in the capital, Charqueadas, and Canoas. The operation underscored a significant crackdown on organized crime in the region.
The investigation was initiated following a tip-off concerning a drug delivery scheme in the southern area of Porto Alegre. One individual was identified as the logistics coordinator for drug deliveries, as well as the owner of firearms, illicit drugs, and cash hidden in his residence, all connected to a larger criminal group. The police, led by Delegate Ewerton Melo from the 1st Narcotics Investigation Department, have highlighted the importance of community cooperation in uncovering such operations.
During the ongoing operation, authorities confiscated approximately R$ 30,000 and various quantities of drugs. The police plan to provide a detailed account of all seizures following the conclusion of the operation, which reflects the growing concern over drug-related crime and violence in the region. The successful execution of this operation signals a significant step forward in the fight against organized crime in southern Brazil.
