Sephora, the leading French cosmetics brand, knocks on Ecuador's door
French cosmetics giant Sephora is set to enter the Ecuadorian market and has filed for trademark registration in the country.
Sephora, a renowned French cosmetics brand, is preparing to establish its presence in Ecuador, marking a significant development in the country's beauty industry. The company has already submitted a request for trademark registration under its brand and logo to the National Service of Intellectual Rights (Senadi). This move indicates Sephora's intention to market a variety of products locally, signaling increased competition and choice for consumers in Ecuador.
The trademark application was officially filed on September 19, 2025, with the reference number SENADI-2025-79219. According to the details published in the October 2025 issue of the Intellectual Property Gazette, Sephora plans to offer a diverse portfolio of products in Ecuador. The range includes various cosmetic items such as perfumes, weight loss cosmetics, skin care lotions, lip care products, hair conditioners, soaps, bath salts, masks, and even temporary tattoos, catering to a wide segment of beauty enthusiasts.
With Sephora's entry into the Ecuadorian market, there may be significant implications for local brands and retailers as they will face competition from an internationally acclaimed brand. As consumers become more aware of global beauty trends, this could shift shopping behaviors and enhance the demand for premium beauty products in Ecuador, enabling greater consumer choice and possibly influencing local business strategies.
