President Lee with Purple Tie: 'Overseas Diplomatic Missions Will Do Their Best to Resolve Difficulties for Our Diaspora'
President Yoon Suk-yeol emphasized at a gathering in Singapore that overseas diplomatic missions will strive to resolve the challenges faced by Korean expatriates.
On August 1st, President Lee Jae-myung addressed members of the Korean community during a gathering in Singapore, stating that overseas diplomatic missions must not only alleviate their inconveniences but also fulfill their roles as part of the community. He instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to conduct a comprehensive survey of the complaints and requests from the global Korean diaspora, leading to the receipt and review of around 1,400 issues. Lee characterized this initiative as unprecedented and extensive, clarifying that with over seven million Korean expatriates worldwide, the relatively low number of complaints signals the necessity for diplomatic missions to engage more effectively with expatriates and gather their opinions to continuously address their concerns.
