In Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, a 28-year-old man named Ayush has been arrested on charges of raping his employer's wife, who is 41 years old. The incident came to light when the victim, who has been undergoing treatment for depression and took heavy medications that caused her to be in a deep sleep, was able to catch Ayush in the act when she missed her medication. On February 13, the victim managed to confront him, leading her to file a police complaint on February 23, after which the police arrested Ayush on February 25.

The victim detailed in her complaint that she has been struggling with depression for some time and takes substantial medication that induces significant drowsiness. Ayush, who worked at her husband’s shop and also assisted with household chores, exploited her vulnerable condition repeatedly to assault her. Believing that she would remain unaware, he took advantage of her incapacitated state, demonstrating a breach of trust and moral responsibility.

This case highlights the alarming issue of vulnerability in domestic situations, especially relating to commitments made in employer-employee relationships.
