Raped under the pretense of marriage, forced to have an abortion when she became pregnant... Youth arrested

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman under the guise of marriage and later forcing her to have an abortion when she became pregnant.

In Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, a 24-year-old man named Krishan Rajbhar has been arrested for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman under the pretense of marriage. The victim reported to the police that Rajbhar had been promising marriage for six years while having a sexual relationship with her. She claimed he deceived her with his marriage promise until she became pregnant, at which point he stated that he needed to focus on preparing for his job and could not afford any expenses related to a wedding or child.

The victim further alleged that Rajbhar coerced her into having an abortion, claiming that they would marry once he secured employment. Under this agreement, she took abortion pills to terminate her pregnancy, believing that their marriage would happen thereafter. However, after he got a job, there was no further communication regarding the marriage, leading her to file a complaint.

This case sheds light on the troubling issue of consent and deception in intimate relationships, compounded by societal pressures regarding marriage and employment in India. The police are taking the allegations seriously, and this arrest shows a step toward addressing such crimes in a country where many women face challenges in obtaining justice in sexual assault cases.
