Gang rape of a minor after mixing a narcotic substance in cold drink, one arrested
A gang rape case involving a minor in Dehradun has led to the arrest of one accused, with two others being detained by the police.
A serious incident of gang rape of a minor has emerged in the Patel Nagar area of Dehradun, India. Following a complaint by the victim's mother, police arrested one suspect, Rafique alias Sonu, aged 19, while two other juveniles involved in the crime were also taken into custody. The police initiated an investigation after registering a case under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, highlighting the pressing need to address youth safety concerns.
According to police reports, the victim was allegedly lured by the accused under the pretext of helping her with delivering clothes. On March 12, she was called to a location near a school on the Haridwar bypass, where she was reportedly taken by the accused and two accomplices to a nearby forest area. It is alleged that the suspect then drugged her by mixing a substance into a cold drink before the assault took place.
This occurrence is particularly alarming in light of other recent similar incidents in the region, such as a case where a tenth-grade girl was gang-raped after being given alcohol. Such incidents underline a significant and disturbing trend regarding the safety and protection of minors in India, prompting calls for more stringent enforcement of laws and increased public awareness to prevent such heinous acts in the future.
