At least 6 killed, 28 injured in Russian attacks on Ukraine over past day
At least six people were killed and 28 others injured in a series of Russian drone attacks on Ukraine in one day, according to local authorities.
In a recent wave of violence, at least six individuals have lost their lives and 28 others have sustained injuries due to Russian drone attacks on Ukraine over the past day. Local authorities reported on March 1 that Russia launched 123 drones targeting various locations throughout Ukraine. Of these, Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted 110 drones, though 13 managed to evade detection and successfully struck seven different sites, leading to significant collateral damage. Debris from these intercepted drones impacted at least four locations, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the air defense systems.
The attacks were especially severe in Donetsk Oblast, where two fatalities were reported from the town of Druzhkivka and another death occurred in Kostiantynivka, with several injuries reported across the area. Governor Vadym Filashkin confirmed that additional assaults in the region led to injuries of five more citizens. In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the situation was similarly dire, with one man killed and four injured when Russian forces targeted the Synelnykove district, along with injuries reported in Nikopol and Novooleksandrivka communities.
Additionally, Kherson Oblast faced aggressive attacks, particularly on 31 different settlements, including the regional center of Kherson. Local military officials reported one fatality and several injuries as the Russian strikes continue unabated. This recent escalation highlights the ongoing conflict's toll on civilians and raises urgent questions about safety and the need for enhanced air defense capabilities in Ukraine as it continues to fend off these persistent threats.
