At least 6 killed, 35 injured in Russian attacks on Ukraine over past day
Recent Russian drone attacks in Ukraine have resulted in at least six fatalities and 35 injuries over the past day.
In a series of air attacks on March 3, Russian forces targeted various regions across Ukraine, leading to at least six confirmed deaths and 35 injuries according to local authorities. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 136 drones were launched by Russia overnight, of which 127 were intercepted successfully, demonstrating the ongoing efforts of Ukrainian air defenses to protect its territory. However, the incidents underscored the ongoing vulnerability of civilian infrastructure, as debris from downed drones caused damage and disruption in several areas.
The most severe impact was felt in Donetsk Oblast, where six individuals lost their lives and 19 were injured due to the attacks. In addition to Donetsk, other regions such as Sumy, Kherson, Poltava, and Zaporizhzhia also reported casualties and infrastructural damage. In Sumy Oblast, for instance, three individuals were reported injured, while four sustained injuries in Kherson. Local authorities detailed that debris from the intercepted drones caused damage to residential areas, a college, and led to delays in train services across affected regions.
This latest wave of attacks complicates the already dire humanitarian situation in Ukraine, as the country grapples with the consequences of ongoing warfare. The frequency and scale of these attacks reveal the determined posture of Russian forces while emphasizing the resilience and responses of Ukrainian defense systems. As the conflict endures, the safety of civilians continues to be a pressing concern as regions across Ukraine face intensified military actions.
