People from Barabanki stranded in Qom, Iran, relatives call for government aid

Concerns are rising in Barabanki as several students and scholars are stranded in Qom, Iran, following recent attacks.

In the wake of attacks in Iran, a sense of unease has enveloped the Barabanki district of India, where numerous students and Islamic scholars are currently studying in Qom, a significant religious and educational center. The attacks have disrupted communication with these individuals, heightening the anxiety of their families back home. Reports indicate that over a dozen students from Barabanki, including notable figures such as Maulana Zafar Abbas and Maulana Abid Hussain Kazmi, remain in Qom, along with some of their family members, including children and relatives.

Initially, a few families were able to establish contact with their loved ones in Qom post-attack, but as time has progressed, communication has ceased completely. This growing disconnect has significantly exacerbated the worries of their families in Barabanki. One concerned relative, Maulana Abbas Mehndi 'Sadaf', mentioned that he managed to speak with his brother shortly after the attacks, but subsequent attempts to reach him have fallen silent, leaving the family in distress.

Calls for government intervention are being made, as the families urge the authorities to provide assistance and ensure the safe return of their loved ones. The situation reflects a broader concern for Indian nationals abroad during times of conflict, highlighting the urgent need for diplomatic support and effective communication in crisis situations. As the situation evolves, the families hope for swift action from the government to address their dire circumstances.
