Jakob Kulbin climbed to the podium at the junior World Championships despite five missed shots

Despite five shooting errors, Jakob Kulbin secured a bronze medal in the junior World Championships held in Germany.

Today, the junior World Championships kicked off in Arber, Germany, and on the very first day, Jakob Kulbin from Estonia made his country proud by earning a medal. During the junior men's 15 km individual event, Kulbin experienced five missed shots (with penalties of 2+1+1+1), leading to a significant penalty time of 3 minutes and 45 seconds due to the shorter distance's penalty time of 45 seconds per missed shot. Nevertheless, he finished the race with the best skiing time among the 96 competitors, earning him a third-place finish.

The gold medal was claimed by Philip Lindkvist-Floetten from Sweden, followed by Loe Carlier from France in second place, while Kulbin secured bronze with a total time of +2 minutes and 16.6 seconds behind the winner. The Estonian skier showcased exceptional skiing performance, finishing well ahead of Camille Grataloup-Manissolle from France, who came in fourth place, with a time difference of 41 seconds. Kulbin's impressive skiing time for the 15 km distance was 48 minutes and 15.6 seconds, placing him among the top performers, along with the gold and silver medalists and Antonin Delsol from France, who secured 16th place with a time of 49 minutes and 28.3 seconds, which was only 1 minute and 12.7 seconds slower than Kulbin's.
