Kulbin won bronze at the junior world championships, Varikov sixth among youth

Jakob Kulbin secured a bronze medal in the junior biathlon World Championships in Germany, despite some shooting errors.

On Saturday, the junior and youth biathlon World Championships kicked off in Arber, Germany, showcasing a successful start for Estonia. Jakob Kulbin achieved a remarkable bronze medal in the standard distance event, demonstrating impressive skiing despite struggling with his shooting accuracy. He finished the race over a minute faster than his competitors, allowing him to place third despite leaving five targets standing.

The gold medal was claimed by Sweden's Philip Lindkvist-Flötten, who managed to complete the race without missing any shots, finishing with an outstanding time of 49 minutes and 44 seconds. The silver medal went to France's Leo Carlier, who also showcased strong performance but fell short with a time loss of 46.7 seconds to the winner, while Kulbin followed closely despite his shooting difficulties, finishing 2 minutes and 16.6 seconds behind Lindkvist-Flötten.

Additionally, the championship saw Estonian youth athletes performing admirably, with several making it to the top 33 rankings. This successful outing marks a positive start for Estonia in international biathlon competitions and highlights the potential of young Estonian athletes on the world stage.
