Water tariff from Casan will become more expensive from April in SC; see adjustment

The Casan water and sewage company in Santa Catarina has announced a 5.8% increase in tariffs starting in April, primarily attributed to inflation over the past 15 months, though the practical increase will be lower due to a prior decrease in December.

The Companhia Catarinense de Águas e Saneamento (Casan) announced on Friday, March 27, a 5.8% increase in water and sewage tariffs that will take effect from April. This adjustment reflects the inflation rate accumulated over 15 months, specifically from October 2024 to December 2025. However, Casan noted that since there was a previous reduction of 4.21% in December, the effective increase for customers will actually be just 1.34%. This adjustment mechanism aims to address the financial viability of the services provided by the company.
