The construction site for the sustainable urban regeneration of the former Italcementi area has begun
A project has been launched to regenerate the former Italcementi cement factory site in Monselice, aiming to transform a significant industrial area in the Veneto region into a sustainable urban space.
Today marked the official presentation of the start of the construction site for the Sustainable Urban Regeneration project at the site of the former Italcementi cement factory, which has been closed since 2015. This initiative also includes the adjacent former quarry of Monte Fiorin in Monselice and aims to profoundly transform one of the most significant disused industrial sites in the Veneto region, heralding a new phase of development for the entire Euganean Hills area. With a total of 66 hectares involved, this project represents the largest ongoing urban regeneration effort in the Veneto region.
The presentation was attended by key local officials, including Stefano Peraro, the Deputy Mayor of Monselice, and Giorgia Bedin, a Regional Councillor and former Mayor of Monselice. Other notable attendees included Alessandro Frizzarin, President of the Colli Euganei Regional Park, Massimo Vitali, President of Vitali Spa, and Antonio Sala, Administrator of Roncello Capital. These stakeholders play a crucial role in supporting the initiative, which is expected to enhance the landscape and economy of the area.
Initial activities for site organization and cleaning are already underway, which are essential preliminary operations to prepare the area for future development. The sustainable urban regeneration project is anticipated to stimulate local economy, attract investment, and offer new recreational spaces, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents in the surrounding communities.
