Twelve residents were evacuated in Kaunas after a strong smell of gas was reported in an apartment building, but it was later identified and removed by gas service workers.
On Friday at 14:40, a report was received regarding a strong smell of gas in the stairwell of a residential building located on Demokratų Street in the Vilijampolė neighborhood of Kaunas. Authorities took immediate action by evacuating 12 residents from the apartment building to ensure their safety.
Gas service workers responded promptly to assess the situation. Upon inspection, they located a malfunction in one of the apartments, which was causing the gas leak. The issue was resolved, and the affected areas were ventilated to eliminate the hazardous gas buildup, ensuring a safe environment for the residents.
Once the necessary precautions were taken, the residents were allowed to return to their homes. This incident highlights the importance of quick response measures in addressing gas leaks to protect community safety and prevent potential disasters.
