The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has reported that it received a staggering 1,696,316 applications from students across Nigeria by the end of the application period on February 27, 2026. This represents a significant response to the Fund's initiative, launched on May 24, 2024, to support students pursuing their education through financial aid. The daily status report released via the Fund's official social media account highlighted that only a fraction of the applicants, approximately 983,706 students, have benefited from the program to date, but interest in the loans continued to grow right up to the closure of the portal.
