This Saturday, a significant public health initiative branded as 'D Day' is set to mobilize 54 municipalities in Northern Minas Gerais, targeting the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is responsible for transmitting diseases such as dengue, chikungunya, and zika virus. Organized by the Regional Superintendence of Health (SRS) of Montes Claros, this effort is part of a larger statewide strategy led by the Secretary of State for Health of Minas Gerais to increase local engagement in combating these mosquito-borne diseases. The primary activities will commence in Montes Claros, the largest municipality in the macro-region, starting at 7 AM at Praça da Antiga Lavanderia.
