Child suffers head injury on water slide at water park and father denounces attempted bribery to 'cover up' case; listen to audio
A ten-year-old boy sustained a head injury at Splash Eco Park in Brazil, prompting his father to allege that the park's owner attempted to bribe him to conceal the incident.
A ten-year-old boy named Samuel sustained a significant head injury while using a slide at the Splash Eco Park in Abreu e Lima, located in the Greater Recife area of Brazil. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 22, resulting in a deep cut that required seven stitches. The boy's father, Leonardo Barbosa, an attorney, has reported the case to the Civil Police, who are currently treating it as a case of bodily injury. In his interview with G1, Barbosa detailed the circumstances surrounding the injury, highlighting negligence in the parkβs maintenance as a potential factor, given that the slide had apparent fissures and protrusions that may have contributed to the injury.
In a troubling twist, Barbosa claims that park management attempted to bribe him with R$ 2,000 to keep the incident quiet and discourage any further scrutiny. He recorded conversations with the park owner's representatives, where they allegedly tried to persuade him not to pursue the matter legally. The park, however, has strongly denied these allegations, asserting that the incident was isolated and that proper safety measures were in place during Samuel's accident.
The situation has escalated, drawing attention to safety regulations and customer care in amusement parks across Brazil. The ongoing investigation by the Civil Police seeks to determine the validity of the father's claims and whether the park is liable for the injuries sustained by Samuel. This case not only raises concerns about the safety of current park facilities but also about the ethical obligations of business owners to transparently address incidents when they occur, rather than attempting to suppress them.
