Project 'Aromas da Amazônia': women receive training for producing patchouli and priprioca-based air fresheners in Santarém
Women in Santarém, Brazil, are being trained to produce natural air fresheners made from local patchouli and priprioca plants as part of the 'Aromas da Amazônia' project.
The 'Aromas da Amazônia' project has launched a training program aimed at empowering women in the Residencial Salvação area of Santarém, located in the western part of Pará, Brazil. This initiative began on Friday, the 27th, and runs through Saturday, the 28th, focusing on the production of air fresheners using patchouli, a plant commonly found in the region. The program is designed to enhance the participants' skills while promoting local resources and economic opportunities.
The first training session was held from 8 AM to 6 PM at the SEMDEC space, with women divided into groups of 11 for each session. The initiative aims to produce approximately 160 natural air fresheners during the two-day training. On Saturday, the second group will focus on working with priprioca, another local plant, thereby expanding their technical knowledge and capabilities in utilizing the region's natural resources.
This project not only seeks to create entrepreneurial opportunities for women but also highlights the cultural richness and biodiversity of the Amazon region. By empowering local women and promoting sustainable practices, the 'Aromas da Amazônia' project stands to contribute positively to the local economy and the conservation of regional flora.
