Elo Ellermaa to Lead Tallinn’s City Diplomacy and Communication

Elo Ellermaa is set to assume leadership of Tallinn's city diplomacy and communication department beginning this Monday, after a competitive recruitment process that attracted 31 applications. This appointment is significant as it reflects the city's commitment to enhancing its international outreach and collaboration.
Ellermaa has a diverse background, having previously worked as a journalist and host in the news department of the Estonian Public Broadcasting. His experience extends to strategic communication roles at Meta Advisory, Elering, and Ignitis in Estonia, where he focused on communication and marketing, including international cooperation and the planning of communications for large-scale projects. His educational background includes a degree in English philology from Tallinn University, equipping him with skills relevant to effective communication.
According to Tallinn City Chancellor Kairi Vaher, the combined leadership of the new department requires a strong background in public communication and an understanding of international cooperation. This restructuring of the political communication department into a new entity aimed at consolidating city diplomacy and communication services is scheduled to take effect on February 16, 2026, showcasing the city's strategic approach to its diplomatic and communicative efforts.
