Hillar Sein leaves the position of head of the Tallinn Culture and Sports Department

Hillar Sein has resigned from his position as head of the Tallinn Culture and Sports Department at his own request.

Hillar Sein has officially resigned from his role as the head of the Tallinn Culture and Sports Department, a decision that was made at his own request. The Tallinn City Government announced this decision on a Monday, confirming that Sein would be leaving the position effective the last day of March. His departure marks a significant change in the local cultural and sporting landscape, which he has overseen since January 1, 2021.

As per the city's regulations, Sein will receive a compensation equivalent to three months of his base salary upon his departure. This financial provision reflects the standard practice for such positions within the city government, ensuring a smooth transition for outgoing officials. Following his resignation, Lennart Sundja, the director of the Tallinn Philharmonic, is set to temporarily take over the responsibilities of the Culture and Sports Department starting April 1 until a new head is appointed.

Sein's leadership since early 2021 has been pivotal in orchestrating various cultural and sporting initiatives in Tallinn, and his exit might open new avenues for the direction of the department. The appointment of a new leader could significantly impact future programs and the overall cultural strategy of the city, highlighting the importance of this role in fostering the local community's engagement in cultural and sporting activities.
