Elari Udam to Lead the Tallinn Municipal Department

Elari Udam has been appointed to lead the Tallinn Municipal Department starting March 1st after winning a public competition.

Elari Udam will take over as the head of the Tallinn Municipal Department from March 1, having been chosen through a public competition that attracted 65 applications. Udam previously served as a member of the department's leadership and managed the construction and maintenance services. His background includes roles such as a board member at Riigi Kinnisvara AS and CEO of Pindi Kinnisvara, indicating a solid foundation for his new position.

Udam's appointment comes at a time when Tallinn faces significant challenges, including the management of green spaces and the development of major infrastructure projects. Tallinn's Deputy Mayor Kristjan Järvan commented on Udam's leadership, noting that this winter, snow clearing has been more efficient than in prior years, which he credited to Udam's organization's efforts. The selection committee comprised four members, including an external expert, underscoring the rigorous nature of the selection process.

The previous head of the department, Jaan Tarmak, resigned in August of last year, leaving Udam with the responsibility to continue enhancing municipal services. Udam’s experience in both environmental and municipal affairs positions him well to address the immediate needs of the city and ensure continued progress in other areas of municipal development and maintenance.
