City Hall expands garbage collection in the rural area of Petrolina; check routes

The Petrolina City Hall is expanding garbage collection routes in rural areas to improve service coverage and sanitary conditions starting March 2026.

Beginning in the first week of March 2026, the City Hall of Petrolina will expand its garbage collection routes in the rural areas of Pernambuco's Sertão region. This initiative aims to enhance service coverage and ensure a more regular collection of waste in the interior communities. The municipal government notes that the expansion of these routes is intended to reinforce essential services in rural areas and improve the sanitary conditions of the affected communities.

With the new changes, the garbage collection schedule will be adjusted for various locations, ensuring that residents receive consistent service. For example, Area 21 will have collection on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the morning, while other communities like Assentamento José Almeida and Vila Lagoa will have specific days designated for pickup. Notably, Vila 12 is a newly included locality in this service expansion, reflecting the government's commitment to addressing sanitation needs in previously underserved areas.

This expansion not only aims to facilitate better waste management but also addresses public health concerns by improving hygiene conditions in these rural neighborhoods. The local government’s proactive approach signifies its dedication to providing essential services and enhancing the quality of life for residents of Petrolina's rural communities.
