Uganda: EACOP Hands Over Nyamasoga-Katooke Road

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) has officially handed over the newly constructed Nyamasoga-Katooke Road to improve local infrastructure in Uganda.

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) has collaborated with Hoima City to complete the construction of the Nyamasoga-Katooke Road as part of its Socio-Economic Investment (SEI) programme. This project is designed to enhance the livelihoods of local communities, improve infrastructure, and facilitate trade in areas adjacent to the pipeline route. By connecting the villages of Kayera and Katooke, this 7.5-kilometre marram road is poised to benefit approximately 6,500 residents from over 600 households.

With its completion, the Nyamasoga-Katooke Road offers improved access to the Kaiso-Tonya Highway, thereby enhancing connectivity to significant trading centers such as Nyamasoga and Buseruka. The upgraded infrastructure plays a critical role in facilitating access to essential services, including health care facilities, educational institutions, and local markets, which are vital for community development.

The initiative reflects EACOP's commitment to socioeconomic investments that impact local communities positively. By fostering better infrastructure, the project not only supports the everyday activities of the population but also aims to stimulate economic growth within the region, showcasing the importance of corporate partnerships in national development.
