However, it is important to note that while these supplements provide tangible benefits for the skin when used continuously, they do not prevent the onset of wrinkles. Experts analyzed numerous studies and expressed confidence that collagen capsules or powders deliver some real advantages to skin care, albeit not as an immediate fix.

Moreover, the review highlights that collagen supplementation may also help alleviate joint wear and pain associated with arthritis, based on results gathered from 113 studies involving nearly eight thousand participants. Collagen is a natural protein produced by the body, playing a critical role in providing support and resilience to skin, nails, bones, and connective tissues such as tendons and cartilage. As individuals age, the production of collagen decreases, leading to various signs of aging.

Despite its potential benefits, experts caution that collagen is not a panacea for all skin issues. From the beginning of adulthood, the body starts to produce less collagen, and existing collagen in the body deteriorates over time. Thus, while collagen supplements can offer certain benefits, they should not be viewed as a comprehensive solution for skin aging or damage, emphasizing the need for a more holistic approach to skincare and wellness.
