The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the approval of over N21 billion for the first phase of the new Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) headquarters to be built in Abuja. The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, revealed this information at the groundbreaking ceremony for the headquarters, emphasizing the importance of this project for the modernisation of aviation infrastructure in Nigeria. The contractor tasked with the project, MESSRS NHD Interbiz Projects Ltd., is expected to complete the construction within a strict timeframe of 30 months.

Keyamo highlighted that the contract worth N21.68 billion is inclusive of all taxes and reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring high standards of quality and adherence to timelines set in the agreement. He noted that this venture aligns with Executive Order 12, which seeks to improve government operations and infrastructure development in the aviation sector. This is seen as a pivotal step towards enhancing the safety, efficiency, and growth of Nigeria's aviation landscape.

This investment not only signifies the government's dedication to revitalising infrastructural growth within the sector, but it also showcases a broader strategy to foster economic development through improved aviation services. As the construction unfolds over the coming years, it is anticipated to create job opportunities and stimulate local economies, thereby contributing to the overall progress of Nigeria’s aviation system and the surrounding community in Abuja.
