Man flees to the sea after report of harassment and is arrested in Cabo Frio

An 18-year-old man was arrested after fleeing into the sea in Cabo Frio to escape charges of harassment.

On Wednesday afternoon, an 18-year-old man was arrested in Cabo Frio, Brazil, after fleeing into the sea to evade arrest following allegations of harassment made by a group of women. According to police reports, the women accused the young man of stalking and intimidating them, with reports indicating that he had solicited money from them to buy goods from a local retailer.

During the police encounter, the suspect claimed he was only trying to buy candies to resell. However, as law enforcement engaged with the store manager about the allegations, the man fled toward the Buraco do Boi neighborhood, where he threw a vendor's cart at a police vehicle, causing damage to its bumper and breaking a mirror before making his escape toward the beach.

Despite jumping into the water in an effort to evade capture, a second team of officers managed to assist in apprehending him. This incident highlights concerns regarding public safety and harassment, as well as the lengths individuals may go to avoid legal consequences in Brazil, particularly in busy tourist areas like Cabo Frio.
