Police arrest criminals and block R$ 80,000 from gang specialized in vehicle theft
The Civil Police of Pernambuco arrested three suspects involved in a vehicle theft gang and blocked R$ 80,000 in financial assets.
The Civil Police of Pernambuco launched Operation Hórus on Thursday, during which they arrested three men suspected of being part of a gang that specializes in vehicle theft in the Mata Sul region of the state. This operation was conducted by the Palmares Police Department under the leadership of Delegate Marivon Gomes and involved the fulfillment of three arrest warrants and search and seizure orders. The individuals arrested are aged 19 and 20 and are currently in custody at a police unit awaiting judicial proceedings.
The investigation began in September of the previous year following a motorcycle robbery in the municipality of Palmares. This incident served as the catalyst for police efforts to identify the criminal organization responsible for multiple vehicle thefts in the region. The Civil Police have emphasized that this operation aims not only to arrest those involved but also to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting the gang’s operations, as evidenced by the substantial amount of money they were able to block.
The action highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating vehicle crime and the importance of targeted police operations in addressing gang-related activities. The authorities remain vigilant in tracking down additional members of the gang, ensuring that their activities can be curtailed and that justice is served for the victims of these thefts. The successful execution of Operation Hórus reflects the commitment of the police in safeguarding the community and enhancing public safety in the region.
